Welcome to the news

Here you can find live updates on milestones that the micromouse development has hit, containing all the key information and how the team is currently doing.

April 3rd, 2020

Team Alpha website finished! The team is extremely happy with the final result of the website and we all think the quality and finish reflects the amount of effort we have put in throughout the process. Although the micromouse project was unfortunately cut short we have made the best out of a bad situation and feel like we would have had a fighting chance of bringing home some trophies.

March 23rd, 2020

The team got together on WhatsApp and Conor laid out tasks for each individual in order to complete and submit the website for the assessment which was happening on 3rd April.

March 17th, 2020

Due to unforeseen circumstances the work on our micro mouse had to be stopped with only half of the PCB board being populated. Conor managed to draw the case design with detailed annotations to give website viewers a feel for what would have been.

March 10th, 2020

Vyshnav, Conor & Joe carried out on brainstorming and researching on what special feature to add to the micro mouse. The new proteus board was completed by Tom and was sent for printing

March 2nd ,2020

We had a group meeting to check the current status within each departments of the group. Our target is to complete the white line following task by the end of next week.

February 24th, 2020

The website was up to date, the documentation for the obstacle avoidance was complete as well as the individual blogs. We implemented another two LDRs to work alongside the existing three so that the accuracy of white line following could be increased.

February 16th, 2020

Conor is working really hard on the Solid works. Our idea of an outer layer is a very basic and simple circular design with three compartments to allow it to be assembled and disassembled quickly along with a Perspex roof so that we can see the core of the mouse. We have just started constructing the proteus circuit for the white line following task. The Proteus circuit will hold both the obstacle avoidance and white followig on one PCB allowing the micromouse to be much more low profile. This will however mean that the old proteus circuit and PCB is now useless however is a good price to pay for the improved functioning and aesthetics of the micromouse.

February 8th, 2020

We printed the same proteus board and gathered all the components. Furthermore, we laid out all the components and soldered them neatly onto the board. To double check we checked whether the IR sensors were working properly by checking different ports on the microprocessor and analysing the waveforms.

February 1st, 2020

We are back from our vacations and semester 1 examinations. Our topmost priority is to get the mouse to achieve obstacle avoidance.  This time Tom was also involved with the construction as he had completed the coding for the obstacle avoidance.

December 13th, 2019

Its assessment day and our micro mouse wasn’t working. However, Tom and Vyshnav tried their best to revamp the proteus board. However, only the touch bars were working, and we were marked for that.

December 1st, 2019

We have an Obstacle avoidance assessment coming up in a couple of days! Our topmost priority is to get the micrmouse to achieve the task in order to get the best of marks. However, today after testing the mouse there were a few problems with the way the sensors were placed, and there were a few tracks missing due to soldering.

November 23rd. 2019

Proteus board was printed out! Tom has competed coding the first task. The components required were taken and sorted out. The soldering was done by all however Joe led the process and did a very good job. The construction of the wheels and hardware was done by Joe, Conor and Tom

November 15th, 2019

Conor’s work on the proteus was done, although there were a few hiccups he managed to do an amazing job! Waiting for the technicians to have a look at the proteus model and get it approved!

November 8th, 2019

Our project planning page and website was approved! Conor and Vyshnav went for the website assessment. All in all, it went well!

November 3rd, 2019

Tom’s halfway through with the coding of the first task, and Joe has re-built his IR sensors circuit and it seems to be working perfectly. The next step is to design the circuit onto proteus which will be done by Conor along with the assistance from Vyshnav. Hoping to print it out soon and get it populated with components.

October 25th, 2019

Everyone’s blogs for this month was completed and posted onto the website. Joe has finished building the breadboard circuit for obstacle avoidance, however when he was testing the IR circuit none of the points seemed to work. We called a technician for help and there was a problem with our transistor. Alongside this there was a lot of unnecessary wires which we soon removed.

October 18th, 2019

A perfect layout has been chosen for the website with the help of Wix. Documentation from last two weeks is being documented by Vyshnav.

October 11th, 2019

Today’s session started off by creating our own social group, hence we created our WhatsApp group.  Conor is our project manager and he called for a small talk on our planning and approach towards the project. Tom’s begun coding his way through, Joe has already started constructing the breadboard for obstacle avoidance, Vyshnav and Conor are focusing on the design and structure of the website.

Team Alpha is formed!

Our team was formed today! And we immediately got together and talked about our strengths and weaknesses. Thereafter, we designated each duty to each individual based on their strengths. We also started to fill out our Microsoft teams page for reminders and so on! All in all, an amazing first day!
