Vyshnav's February Blog

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

February was a crucial month for our group as we had set a few targets before the examinations. Obstacle avoidance was of utmost importance for us as we were not happy with the way we presented this task in the first semester. The proteus design was printed, and the components were soldered carefully onto the board by keeping in mind the mistakes that we made. The obstacle avoidance was achieved during the first week of this month and was a proud moment for the group.

We had decided to revamp the entire website as our earlier website looked plain. We had in mind to create a theme which was dynamic and eye captivating. The second week was spent on designing the website along with the webmaster Conor. Meanwhile, we wanted to update as much as information ( blogs, ethics and sustainability, documentation ) onto the website as they were of importance for the final grade. I was responsible for writing upon the ethics and sustainability of autonomous vehicle and also documenting the obstacle avoidance. It was an easy process as we had all the necessary supporting information on hand.

White line following was then started. To save time and keep on track, we did not lay out the components onto the PCB. Instead, we laid out the resistors and wiring onto a Veroboard and placed it onto the mouse. At first, while testing it out, there was a slight problem with the mouse being able to follow the line. However, at times the micro-mouse drifted away from the line which concerned the group.

Our target for the rest of the month was to achieve the line following.
